A választópolgárok elképesztő hatalmat adtak tegnap a hazai jobbközép oldal kezébe. Hogy az egyőszi slágert parafrazáljuk: Európában ilyen sikert nem aratott még párt. A szavazók nehéz helyzetben is bölcsen cselekedtek: elfordultak a korrupt nyolc, de leginkább a hitelből…..

@a nagy levin: my bad, common mistype
@evil overlord: @bz249: Yes, I meant party candidates could be locally elected. Obviously this is a long road to go, but in my opinion neither Fidesz nor any other party has ever had such a great opportunity to get rid of the mayor lobby.
A different idea is when the government encourages regions and local leaders to cooperate and develop improvement strategies together -- this takes longer but is a good example also to fight "One man decides what to build"-mechanisms
@Professor Pizka: The question is whether they are brave enough to fight against the corruption within Fidesz. I am saying they have to be. The money - I mean legal money - that comes with this epic victory can be enough to pay their debts.

Miközben a (magyar nemzeti szokásjog szerint besorolt) jobboldal kevés meglepetést tartogat, egy erős jobbközép Fidesz és egy erős kispárt/gyenge középpárt méretű, szélsőjobb retorikát szélsőbaloldali gondolatokkal ötvöző Jobbik már a 2010-es parlament biztos befutójának…..

Corruption is such a big issue all among the world that every democratic government (especially in times of recession) has to deal with. If they refuse to, they fail. If a party protects its corrupt members, the party looses. In that regard I might be an idealist.
I do hope that Mr. Orbán has learned from his mistakes, and remembers that back in 2002 corruption made his party loose.
@eloszto: I think the'll say no, or they'll say rebuilding the main square can wait. I'm not saying to all the majors, but to most of them. Most of the EU-funds have to be spent on rebuilding the economic infrastructure and encouraging employment.
@Aron M: My opinion is that if corruption seems rational, the legal system is wrong. M6 is outstanding, and visible - especially when the economy is bad.
@jvizkeleti: I hope that when Mr. Orbán talks about the reform of the municipal system, he means something like you mean. Also strong local press and direct election of the local party candidate can help a lot.
@evil overlord: In my opinion nothing works better than direct election of the local party candidates and free press.
