A trio of rowdy US Open tennis hooligans — tennis hooligans? — got into a brawl in the upper deck of Arthur Ashe Stadium during a match between No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia and unseeded Philipp Petzschner of Germany.
As a result, the trio has been banned from attending US Open matches until Sept. 30, 2012, officials said this afternoon, meaning that they can't attend another tennis match in Flushing, Queens, until 2013.

The fisticuffs began just after 9 p.m., when a female fan complained to a loud man in his early 20s about his repeated use of the f-word during the first set. At one point, she slapped the young man across the face during the verbal confrontation.

"I don't give a f--k what anyone wants," the young man told the woman. "I got a lot of money on the game. ... Sit the f--k down."
As the man and woman volleyed insults at one another, the crowd around them grew more interested in the fight than the match.
When the woman threatened to get the hot-headed man tossed, the young man barked back, "Evicted for what? I'm not talking during the points. ... Get the f--k out oh here."
Moments later, the woman's father approached the rowdy young man and tried to strangle him.

That's when the younger man shoved woman's father off him, forcing him to tumble down three rows of seats as the crowd gasped in shock.
His daughter then ran up to him -- and that is when the younger man shoved her before other fans jumped into the fray. Security guards finally arrived and broke up the fracas.
The whole incident was caught on video and posted on YouTube this morning.
None of those involved in the fight have been identified by name. They were removed from the stadium in handcuffs, but not charged with any crime.
USTA policy states that a fan who gets tossed from a match gets an automatic two-year ban. If they show up and defy the trespass notice, a USTA spokesman said they could be arrested.
Djokovic and Petzschner were distracted by the altercation, looking up toward the seats. Play was briefly halted while the brawlers were escorted out of the stadium.
“It’s a hot night in New York. Things happen,” Chris Widmaier,a US Tennis Association spokesman said of the tussle, which resulted in no arrests. After winning in straight sets, Djokovic quipped that during the fight, “I hoped there was no Serbian up there.”
He added, “I hope the fans enjoyed the match and not the fight.”
